PURE TRACE S now uses 100% recycled gold for it’s jewellery

Through centuries, Gold has been linked to success and fortune. It has always been cherished, be it for lavish celebrations or lucky keepsakes!

But amidst all the grandeur, little do we realize, that the extraction of gold has significant environmental implications from substantial landscape damage to the destruction of the ecosystem! And this vicious process leads to non-curable scars on the land. Sounds distressing, right?

However, with boundless opportunities and great inventions mushrooming all around the globe, comes the idea of Recycled Gold!

“But what is recycled gold? Where does it come from? Is the sourcing ethical?”

Recycling gold is a process wherein the gold is melted down and then refined unit it reaches its purest form.

At PURE TRACES, using recycled materials is one of our key aims. We use responsible, recycled precious metals thereby reducing environmental carbon footprint. There are a series of steps followed before melting it down and using it in jewellery making.

Let's have a look!

At PURE TRACES, the first step involves sieving all the gold that comes in. This process happens in Twin-fold SIFTER where golds are accumulated and categorized based on the purities of gold measured in Karats. This is a very crucial step.

After this, the purities identified are assayed using tools like the acid kit, electronic tester, and X-ray fluorescence spectrometer. Once done, the gold has been sorted for the next step.

All the sorted gold is then melted in a “STRONGBOX” - a modern day crucible at a temperature of 1,064 degrees Celsius and then is either poured into bars in “BLOCKMAKER” and are marked for their purity. In case of further impurities, the entire process is again repeated. This process of removing impurities by burning off is known as Smelting.

For a rapidly growing and demanding industry, Gold mining constantly requires discovering new sources and with time, we are now running out of places to get gold from, not to mention the damage done in the wake of its search. Recycling gold proves to be a boon to minimize such damage and opens a new gateway to such exploration responsibilities.

It is a great alternative to mining practices, as even after gold is recycled, it does not decline in its quality. Furthermore, Recycled Gold can be melted and be reused over and over again without losing its value and purity.

We at PURE TRACES consider this to be a very essential part of our manufacturing and work chain. For us, we evaluate compliance with our Recycled Precious Metals Policy by regularly reviewing that we are getting certified recycled metal from a short list of certified responsible refiners. So without compromising on quality, it entwines the principles of sustainability and morality.
